I’d love to hear your feedback on ViewMyCurrency 0.38

Here is a summary of what people have already said:

Currency Bugs:

• abbreviation of the danish Krone DDK is kr. and not ur. (Kim)
• same for Swedish Kronor (Pontus, Jalf, sonej, Lars)
• add fullwidth Yen sign U+FFE5 (xephyris)
• Israeli Shekel is NIS (Ronen)
• Mauritius currency is ‘Rs’ and not ‘Rp’ (Kokojumbo)
• $ Colombia Dollar COP treated like USD (Jair)
• $ Candian Dollar CAD is treated like USD (Al)
• $ New Zeland Dollar NZD is treated like USD (Peter)

General bugs:

• 0.01 is rounded to 0, if it is converted to 0.00x, instead to be 0.01 (Rufus)
• If you cancel the setup wizard then the extension can get confused (Pontus)

Features to add

• Option for brackets to be the other way around. Original price first, and the converted price between brackets. (xamenos,Kim,Dave)
• blacklist function would be great for sites that should not be converted (Erroneus,Jair)
• hiding it or removing it from the status bar (Ryan,Rufus,AgentAlice,Ben)
• use a coin icon instead of currency code (Rufus)
• locale dectector/setter – use domain name to help guess what ambigious symbols mean. Is ‘$’ Austrialian, New Zeland, Columbian, US?? (John )
• change the characters “xxx” that are used when the extension is switched off. (Paul)

ViewMyCurrency 0.38 released

New version of the Firefox currency converter ViewMyCurrency in now available.
(Update: it’s now on Mozilla Upate)
Major fix:

• Pages were getting scrambled or not converting. Fixed: (XPCNativeWrappers in FF1.5 prevented me from storing the original text inside the JS node objects)

Minor Fixes:

• Increased delay between Firefox startup and exchange rate update to 5 minutes. Made ‘failed update’ error message into a warning. Should be better on a dailup connection now. Thanks Keith!
• Quote symbol is allowed as thousands separator, for example 1′000. This Swiss site should work now. Thanks Theo!
